Today is officially the first day of Ramadan here in the UAE. As a non-Muslim expat, this month is really special to me too.

Iftar at the Ritz-Carlton DIFC

Last weekend we had the opportunity to try out the Iftar at the Ritz Carlton in DIFC.

Upon entering we were greeted warmly by the staff and directed to the hall which was beautifully decked up with dim lighting and elegant place settings. Within minutes of being seated we were offered our choice of drinks and I opted for the jallab, a popular Middle Eastern drink.

Muslims all over the world have started observing the holy month of Ramadan this week.

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, believed to be when the Quran was revealed. It is a month steeped in prayer, fasting and charity for believers worldwide.
